Bio Bu-mako Recordings was launched in 2006 by Jenifa Mayanja as a continuation of the Bu-mako vision to support timeless and progressive musical ideas. Bu-mako started as intimate loft style party gatherings for music lovers looking for a dance experience off the beaten path and was mainly a music and dj event with Jenifa Mayanja as a resident dj, organically musical production was the next step.The label will mainly feature music from the mind and soul of Jenifa Mayanja but leaves room to showcase a very select breed of artists, some known and others upcoming but all channeling their creativity towards putting out damm good music to the music lover that sees music without genre or labeling.Our first release Jenifa Mayanja, Bu-Mako 001 "Stream of Consciousness" CD album has been well received from a wide spectrum of music lovers, from the techno to nu-jazz heads. Our second release, Bu-mako 002 "Boundless ep" a digital release is a melancholy thoughtful groove that lingers in your mind long after. Bu-mako 003, "Stream of consciousness" 12" is making its mark and has identified the quality of sound to expect from the label. Bu-mako 004 "Nakusanga EP" digital release is a rootsy old skool flavor but with a new feel. Bu-Mako 005 "Fragments EP" is a 12"establishing Jenifa Mayanja a serious artist pushing boundaries, stretching the imagination without beating down the listeners into submission.The label has a mixture of vinyl, cd and digital only releases and steady stream of releases in 2007. |
